Student Life activity

Last week there was Christmas ornament decoration event put on in SJ lounge. There we got to make our own ornaments. We were able to use paint, glitter, ribbons and more. I decorated one of my ornaments as a Christmas present and my other one I made it like a snow globe. During the time we were provided with food like pizza and candy goodie bags. It was a fun time and my friends and I got to explore our creativeness even though some of us were that creative, for example me. There was also other things going on in there like making a gingerbread house. I unfortunately did not get to make one because I had to get back to doing my homework. Overall this event was really fun and well worth getting paint and glitter all over me.

On Thursday we had our pod conference and we got to show the other pods what we have learned about in our class. I unfortunately was unable to make it due to having  soccer game. although I wasn't able to make it I was apart of the process of making the presentation. Our presentation was about cooperative learning and how well people can work in groups. So our class tried it out and it was decent. We could've had a little more discipline because not everyone works at the same speed o some don't pull through with the work. but that was okay because we eventually got everything done and we were able to work well with each other. I was apart of putting the power point together and making it look good and others were helping too. Overall this project was a great learning experience. :)

Call to Action

Our call to action day we got to chaperone 5th graders from Ravenswood elementary school on the Brownlee research vessel. Being able to experience this trip was pretty fun; the day contained of us getting to understand San Francisco Bay Area marine life. It was hands-on learning and being engaged with the life out on the water. The value of service I was able to learn was being able to help guide the children to understand what was happening that day. We got to go through multiple stations and learned about zooplankton and phytoplankton. Being able to connect with the kids was great because knowing where they were from was awesome and being able to relate due to how close we were or the things we were interested helped the children be more engaged into the trip. The children had a fun time and were able to connect with us being their chaperone. In my opinion I believe that we helped made an affect in their life and help inspired them to go further with their goals in life. Showing them that they can achieve what they want and that there is something out there for everyone.

On Friday we had our Orientation Engagement Experience and during the time we were given an idea of what our seminar class was going to be like. This class is involved with other schools and I am excited about that because I love helping others and teaching them. The experiences we will get from taking this class will help us learn and advance in our own self being. I feel fortunate to be in it because taking it will help me be a better person myself.
