Call to Action

Our call to action day we got to chaperone 5th graders from Ravenswood elementary school on the Brownlee research vessel. Being able to experience this trip was pretty fun; the day contained of us getting to understand San Francisco Bay Area marine life. It was hands-on learning and being engaged with the life out on the water. The value of service I was able to learn was being able to help guide the children to understand what was happening that day. We got to go through multiple stations and learned about zooplankton and phytoplankton. Being able to connect with the kids was great because knowing where they were from was awesome and being able to relate due to how close we were or the things we were interested helped the children be more engaged into the trip. The children had a fun time and were able to connect with us being their chaperone. In my opinion I believe that we helped made an affect in their life and help inspired them to go further with their goals in life. Showing them that they can achieve what they want and that there is something out there for everyone.
